About the game
Your roll is your route
Pivotrap is a two-player territory battle where your die is your piece. On your turn you move it exactly as many steps as the number showing on top, tipping it over edge by edge. Every tile it lands on turns your colour, and the face that ends up on top decides how far you can go next turn. Choosing a route means choosing your next roll.
The board fights back with its own landmarks. A raised pedestal sits in the middle: plant your die on its flag to flip all nine pedestal tiles at once, or brush its walls to claim them from the side. Coins near each corner flip an X of tiles around them. Box in a tile on all four sides and it becomes yours, plus a Reverse Tile you can spend to step onto your opponent's ground.
There are three ways to win. Claim every tile, lock in a majority your opponent can no longer beat, or leave them with no legal move and take every unclaimed tile on the board for yourself.
Play against a bot that plans its turns with the full rules, pass the screen to a friend, or go online with Quick Match or a private room code. Pick the 9×9 board for a fast game or 13×13 for a longer one.
Descriptions
One line (store subtitle / social): A 1v1 tactical dice game: tip your die across the board, claim every tile it lands on, and box your opponent in.
Short (about 50 words): Pivotrap is a head-to-head strategy game played with dice. Each turn you tip your die exactly as many tiles as the number on top, painting every tile you land on. The face that rolls up sets your next move, so every path is a plan. Claim the board, or trap your rival so they can't move at all.

Key features
- Your roll is your route. Tipping the die changes its top face, so the path you take sets how far you move next turn.
- Trap to win. Leave your rival without a legal move and the rest of the board is yours.
- A board with landmarks. A raised centre pedestal, side walls, corner coins and four-side surrounds each flip tiles in their own way.
- Reverse Tiles. Earn them by surrounding tiles; spend them to step into enemy territory.
- Play anywhere, with anyone. Bot, local 2-player, online Quick Match, or a private room with a 4-character code.
- Two board sizes. 9×9 for a quick game, 13×13 for strategic depth.
- Runs in the browser. No download needed on web.
How to play
- Move your die exactly as many steps as the number on its top face. Each step tips it onto a neighbouring tile.
- Every tile you land on turns your colour. You can't step onto your opponent's die.
- Land on the centre flag to flip the whole raised pedestal. Corner coins flip an X around them.
- Surround a tile on all four sides to take it and earn a Reverse Tile. Spend one to step onto your opponent's tiles.
- Win by claiming the whole board, by securing a majority that can't be caught, or by trapping your opponent.

About Compound Basic
Compound Basic is an independent game studio making strategy games that take a minute to learn and much longer to master. We start from simple pieces, like a die, a grid and two players, and look for the one rule that makes every turn a real decision. We work lean and fast, prototyping and playtesting constantly, and we use modern tools to take a game from idea to playable in weeks rather than years. Pivotrap is our latest game.
